Home Automation India: Technology at home: Part 1 — Basics
India is possibly the most “visibly” wired country — wires can be seen strung from building to building, higgledy-piggledy.
We seem to have integrated technology quite effectively in commercial spaces, but residential areas still have a long way to go. Technology is already here, so perhaps it is time we think about making our home “Smart”.
Basically, a Smart Home is one that is connected. The first step is putting a structured internal wiring in place, because without this framework the rest in meaningless. This wiring connects all your electronic devices and can be accessed from a centralised panel and in various rooms as well. There are various aspects of a smart home — security, home automation, data and multimedia. In this series we are going to focus on multimedia — entertainment.
We are looking at homes where our televisions and multimedia are no longer restricted to rooms like the living, lounge and bedroom. They can now be enjoyed in the kitchen, bathroom, lobby, den — well, just about anywhere. The choice is yours.
