Blissful Home : Brian’s home in Boston
My really “tiny” apartment in Boston. It is only 509 sq ft. Yes, it is a small place but to live right in the city of Boston, one has to be give up something or pay the price. I loved the location and soon realized that one can be extremely comfortable even in a small place.
Blissful Home : Karthik’s home in Bangalore
My flat is part of a small building in a quaint neighbourhood in Bangalore called Cooke town. The flat had an old world charm to it which I wanted to retain.I come from Chettinad, a region in Tamil Nadu that is a consortium of around 74 villages. Our ancestors were known for their financial acumen which took them to many countries around the world – Singapore, Malaysia, Burma, and Europe. And they brought in their influences from these regions into their palatial mansions in Chettinad.
Blissful Home : Sonali’s home in Pune
This is our penthouse apartment located in Pune’s Koregaon Park. The penthouse overlooks the 1-acre plot- which is ancestral property that we did not want to sell. Our home reflects our design sensibilities- contemporary, since we travel so much, but also in touch with our culture. A wall has lithos from Chor bazaar, and antique icons from a Moscow flea market! Of course, it has a fauji feel too- those are our roots.
Blissful Home : Vasudha’s home in Bangalore
For this blissful homes contest, I am sharing some pictures of my home in Bangalore, India. My idea this time was to decorate my house in the most inexpensive way possible. I explored the local handicrafts and bought quite a few from Channapatna, a small town near Mysore, famous for its handmade wooden toys. This adds a traditional Mysore touch to my house. These toys add colour and form to the decor. I also used an old classic wooden clothes hanger as a accessories stand. My chestnut trunk was decopaged with prints from raja ravi verma’s paintings that I found on a calendar. This doubles as a small table too. My home is generally filled with candles and incense for a truly blissful feel.
